DAILY BIBLE DEVOTIONS

Each of these books has thirty-one daily Bible devotions.

There are thousands, possibly millions, of Bible devotionals available. Why write more?
Two reasons:
First: There are so many because people like them.
Second: As believers, we are students of the Bible. That's what it means to be a disciple of Christ. Writing devotionals forces us to research and contemplate passages and aspects of the Scripture very deeply. We write them because it helps us to learn more about our hero, Jesus.

Lord, we pray that you speak through these books. Where we have failed, we ask that You intervene with the power of the Holy Spirit and deliver Your message to the reader, not ours. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We collaborated on all of these devotions. One of us would write them and then we would edit them together. Some of them were written so long ago, we no longer remember for sure who wrote the original version. The point is that the finished versions are very much the work of both of us.

Who are we? My wife Trisha was raised by Christian parents living in a small town. I (Thor) was raised by atheists in an urban environment. She became a Christian as a child. I was saved as a young adult about a year after we were married, which was over 50 years ago.

We raised three children. We were a church going family. Mostly, I worked with computers, repairing them, programming them, or supervising people who did. About the time our children were becoming adults, I became a self-employed website developer. One of my clients was a small Christian school that served as an umbrella school for homeschool families. We gradually became involved in that ministry, and eventually I went to work for them full-time. We joined the small church associated with the school.

Almost twenty-five years ago, the pastor of our small church resigned. The men of the church began rotating pulpit responsibilities while we searched for a new pastor. God called me into full-time ministry, and our church took me as their pastor. I earned my master's degree in Religion from Liberty University. We became involved in the jail ministry and served as assistant chaplains at a local behavioral health hospital. We retired in 2016 but continue to be surrendered to however God wants to use us.
